Helena Frykstrand and Pia Haxner have managed to breathe life into the matriarchal, goddess worshipping people. The reader gets to follow a female line from 1700 B.C. through the worshipping of Norse Gods and all the way to present day Christians. Leading into each new era there is a short recap of history as well as a map showing how the place has changed from an island setting to the present landscape appearance, due to land elevation. The book has a language that makes the reader travel back in time to the era in which the women lived. You can really sense that there is a reality behind every life story. With the help of scientific research in the area of quantum physics, we are given a short, introductory explanation as to why it is possible for a place to hold on to memories, and also how we can see and experiences locations from another era. Hel’s Vi is a book you simply cannot put down and after you have read this, nothing is the same anymore.
